Birders’ Paradise – 20 days – Day by Day

Day 1 – Upon your arrival you will be met by your guide and transferred to a Central Inn depending on time of arrival there are optional activities, visiting the Uganda wildlife education centre, Botanical gardens or Ngamba island chimp sanctuary where you will site different bird species. Overnight at the Central Inn B&B. 

Central Inn is located in the suburbs of Entebbe 5 minutes away from the international airport, and has a very quite, calm and appealing atmosphere. The rooms are en suite clean and spacious, with DSTV and intercom. In the cozy dinning room both local and other cuisines are provided from the al Carte menu, and a bar with assorted drinks

Kingfishers SafarisDay 2 – Depart for Mabira forest for birding most of the day with a packed lunch, after which you will continue to Jinja, where you will stay at Kingfisher Lodge FB.

Kingfisher resort is located 9km from Jinja town, it is one of the best places to stay in Jinja, with en suite rooms, restaurant where various cuisines are served and bar, and a swimming pool. 

Day 3 – Depart for Masindi town birding en route, in Masindi town you will check in at Masindi hotel, have lunch and complete the day birding at the Royal mile in Budongo forest. 

Day 4 – A day’s birding today at Busingiro in Budongo forest , birds here include fish eagle, harrier, bee eater among the many packed lunch and return to the hotel for the night FB. 

Day 5 – Depart for Murchison Falls NP birding en route, you will visit the top of the falls and after which you will continue to Paraa Safari Lodge FB. Murchison falls has recorded about 450 species among which you get the forest, water birds & woodland species. 

Exquisite and Enchanting Paraa Safari Lodge is perched a top a gorge, towering above the mighty Nile River.

First opened in the 1950s Paraa Safari Lodge has 54 appointed rooms, with a haven of style and serenity, complete with balcony and private bathroom. They serve tastiest Uganda’s rich cuisine, bush dinners & BBQs by the poolside with drinks of your choice! 

Paraa LodgeDay 6 – Morning game drive, mammals here include giraffe, lion, buffalo and the various antelopes. With chances of seeing the ground hornbill, vultures, bee eaters, eagles, brown parrot and white-crested turaco among the many species, you will go on the boat cruise to the bottom of the falls this afternoon, viewing birds, crocodiles and hippos. Return to the lodge for the night FB. 

Day 7 – Today you will go birding at Kaniyo Papidi, continue on to Budongo forest and stay for the night at Masindi hotel with D&B. 

Day 8 – Today you will depart for Kibale NP, lunch to en route, after about 6 hours drive you will be checked in at Ataco Resort hotel. Here you will stay for the night FB. This after noon you will go for the swamp walk, were you will birding with an opportunity to see the great blue turaco, with chances of viewing primates like the vervet monkey, l’hoest monkey, the baboon and mammals like the rare sitatunga and bush pig. 

Day 9 – Continue with the birding in the swamp area, and then go for an afternoon forest walk for opportunities of woodland birds and primates like the chimpanzee, l’hoest monkey, black & white colobus among others. Return to the lodge for the night, you may go on exciting site seeing, if time allows. 

Day 10 – After breakfast you will depart for QENP, you will check in at Mweya Safari lodge, after lunch you will go on the boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel were you will see a myriad of birds, with hippos and often an elephant or buffalo drinking water.

Is located on a peninsula within the heart of the spectacular Queen Elizabeth, a luxury resort aesthetically constructed with meticulous care. The rooms are regal and the grandeur of the Royal Cottage, where the British Queen Mother lodged in 1954, is stunning. Other luxurious amenities include swimming pool, Bar and restaurant with global cuisine & conference facilities. 

Day 11 – Early breakfast then depart for a combined game drive and birding, in QENP there are about 600 bird species recorded, among which is the famous shoebill stork, African fish eagle, martial eagle, papyrus gonolek and more. The mammals include elephant, various antelopes, hyena, lion, leopard and buffaloes. 

Buhoma HomesteadDay 12 – Today you will depart for Bwindi impenetrable forest, birding en route, overnight at Buhoma lodge FB. 

Buhoma lodge, is located about 50m from the main park office  in  Bwindi NP, Buhoma Lodge in a mid range lodge that consist on en suite chalets, all with balconies to allow you take in and enjoy the breath taking view of the ever think forest. The very delicious meals are served in the dinning, and bar with assorted drinks. 

Day 13 – Gorilla Trek (optional) or go on the forest walk birding for most of the day, birds recorded are about species of which 184 are forest species and 23 Albertine Rift endemics. Birds in Bwindi include turacos, flycatchers, barbets, shrikes among the many. 

Day 14 – Another days birding, coupled with a community walk and return to the lodge for the night. 

Day 15 – Depart for Ruhizha today, about 119 bird species are recorded in Ruhizha, these include – overnight at Ruhizha guest house FB. 

Day 16 – Birding for the day, here you will have the chances of  view the rare African green broad bill, Shelly’s crimsonwing, Dusky Twinspot among the many. Overnight as above.

Day 17 – Another day for birding and forest walks, overnight as above. 

Manatana Tented CampDay 18 – Today you will transfer to Lake Mburo NP, where you will arrive in time for lunch at Mantana tented camp, after lunch you will be going for either for bush walk, birding en route. Lake Mburo has over 40 bird species – both woodland and water birds, some of the common species are the harrier hawk, green pigeon, narina trogn, grey-backed cameroptera and double-toothed barbet. Overnight FB at Mantana tented camp. 

Mantana camp is located in Lake Mburo NP, large en suite tents with eco friendly bathrooms all designed differently with a typical African style. Meals and bar are served in an open dinning tent, to allow you enjoy the lake view. 

Day 19 - After breakfast, you will return to Entebbe birding en route, with a stop for lunch and curio shopping, you stay at the Central Inn B&B. 

Day 20 – Depending on the flight time, you may go for a half day birding around Entebbe; otherwise you will be transferred to the airport in time for departure flight. 

Price: Per person sharing – USD3810.00 

Included: Accommodation and meals as per the Itinerary; activities in the areas visited as included, transport in a 4x4 land cruiser, driver guide services, and all park entry fees.
